✿ In an earlier music review (unsure if I will share it on this webpage yet), I said that CD albums are like partners. If you purchase the whole thing blind (with absolutely no expectations), then many pleasant surprises await you in your time together. If you listen to it in its entirety before you make the purchase, then you know what you’re getting into.
Personally, my experiences with my relationships with each CD that I own is completely different with each one. ✿
✿ Title: The Powerpuff Girls - Heroes and Villains: Music Inspired By The Powerpuff Girls
✿ Date of birth: 07/18/2000
✿ Date we met: 07/06/2019
✿ My experience of our time together: As a Powerpuff Girls mega-fan since 2008, I was more than ecstatic to receive my very first piece of PPG merchandise. I know that there was an abundance due to the show’s massive popularity, so there were still lots left over for me, the girl who shares a birthday with the talented trio (Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup), but born in the exact year it stopped airing.. Irony, 말도 안 돼 (I don’t speak Korean it’s a reference to one of my favorite songs lololol). I adore Shonen Knife, who I need to collect more CD’s from, along with Bis, who has a classic retro feel that can transport anyone back into the past, and Komeda’s catchy, quirky beats. It’s strange to consider the obscurity of this album, it’s arguably more defining for the series than the other CD’s that were released for it. Oftentimes, the other albums for this series feels like it would be grabbed for nostalgia nowadays, and that’s about it - they didn’t really age well, but it’s

My experience of our time together: Are you a depressed teen girl who loves the 2000’s? Do you want to feel confident with your femininity? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then congratulations. I present to you, the self-titled album, No Secrets! Albums like these promote a soft-power of femininity, along with an encouragement of just having fun, daring to be in love and becoming an ambitious soul who’s even a bit flirty at times! I love the messaging behind No Secrets, it is utterly underrated.

Title: Lizzie Mcguire
Date of birth: 08/13/2002
Date we met: 05/24/2024
My experience of our time together: I like to learn more about the culture of the 2000's, and I might as well start where I am from, American's 2000's culture. I really enjoyed listening to this album, it was jam packed with up-beat surprises. This is the first time I owned a CD with a Mandy Moore song on it too, I'm surprised she voice acted as Rapunzel later in 2010, she's really talented and pretty. The very first encounter I had with Lizzie McGuire was seeing a book of hers at my elementary school's library in 2011. I suppose I purchased this for my inner child, who really wanted to own LM merchandise, regardless of even watching or knowing what it really was, hahaha. Yes, it was very cool to see 2000s era books in my school's library, left behind or donated by children who have graduated from my school in the past. It truly was a different time…♡
Rating: 9/10
Recommend to others?: Yes, especially if you want to learn more about the 2000s era of Disney.
Title: I Care 4 U
Date of birth: 12/10/2002
Date we met: 07/06/2024
My experience of our time together: This was a choice to help me heal, regarding my parasocial relationship with Aaliyah. I always appreciated her music and presence in the music industry, even though she passed before I was born.. Her music can suit many different moods, from relaxing and chilling at home alone to hanging out with a loved one. The most important part of being an Aaliyah fan for me is having confirmation that she really enjoyed herself back then. I just wanted to own a piece of invaluable history, especially R and B history, so that’s why I picked up this album. I feel like it was meant as a Christmas treat to her mourning fans, as she had passed away a year and four months earlier..
Rating: 10/10, could give it 1,000 if I could
Recommend to others?: Yes, especially if you’re a fan of Rhythm and Blues!
Title: Punk Debutante
Date of birth: 06/30/2003
Date we met: Sometime in 2020
My experience of our time together: I really appreciated the experimental aspects of this album. I had listened to it completely with a past partner of mine when I first received it. It’s the epitome of tween/teenager 2000’s party music. It can really set a vibe.. Cooler Kids, the artists behind this album, were really passionate about this release. They made an appearance on Disney Channel, too. Ah, back when mainstream TV channels weren’t afraid to show pieces of their personal music interests to the masses - Nicktoons did it, Cartoon Network certainly did it, and now Disney. I also discovered Cooler Kids at 8-9 years old when I was binge watching Kim Possible for the very first time.. I really loved that show ^-^

My experience of our time together: It was a wonderful honor to listen to Hikaru Utada’s second English album. This was the first album I owned of hers, and I honestly felt grateful, really. All of the beats mesmerize me into a calming state, even with the ones with a faster BPM that’s different from the average of the other songs, or ones with a more intense topic. In my opinion, this is one of her best works. It was also interesting to see Timbaland's involvement in producing this album, as he had worked with Aaliyah before her passing. I do remember seeing an interview between Utada and Aaliyah which was really freaking cool as well. Two of my favorite artists, talking!! Squee~

Title: Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi: Music From The Cartoon Network Series
Date of birth: 11/16/2004
Date we met: 7/24/2024
My experience of our time together: I’m still upset that I received a plain looking CD with no games on it with this CD.. that’s what I get for ordering things from Amazon.. I hate how Sony reissues their CD’s. If it’s not broken, don’t try to change it! On another note, this was a really pleasant and enjoyable album. It defined my main obsession besides PPG and Total Drama Island in 2012. I couldn't get enough of this show. My favorite character is Ami, although it feels strange saying that considering that the characters are named after the real-life rockstars. This was my entryway to J-pop like Hatsune Miku, Soutaiseiriron, Utada and many more. The music is bilingual, meaning there’s both English and Japanese lyrics within the songs.
Rating: 10/10 (and I’m not blinded by nostalgia, shut up)
Recommend to others?: If you like J-Rock, fuck yes.
Title: Byou (Soundtrack To The Hot New Dance Workout)
Date of birth: ??/??/2005
Date we met: 07/06/2024
My experience of our time together: It was a lot of fun. I still love listening to the songs on the album. This was also my very first encounter with Jhene Aiko! I loved her song here. I have yet to watch all of the Cheetah Girls movies, as Sabrina Bryan was featured in that movie and this dual promotion of a CD and DVD was like an acknowledgement of her solo career. That’s right, this CD was paired with a DVD that teaches you how to dance! I own the DVD too and it was soo much fun.
Rating: 10/10
Recommend to others?: If you love to dance, sure!
Title: Disney's Kim Possible Soundtrack
Date of birth: ??/??/2005 (I own the Kim-Proved version)
Date we met: 11/30/2024
My experience of our time together: This is honestly, my favorite CD of them all, haha. I love Kim Possible, especially when Beni Arashiro became her.
I unfortunately couldn’t find a CD pressing of Beni’s Japanese cover of the theme song though. That aside, I felt like it was right for the time it was released. There’s songs everyone can enjoy, ranging from the average Disney fanatic of a teenage girl to the whole family. It’s a wonderful compilation album. I really do love Kim Possible! I adore her!
Rating: 10/10
Recommend to others?: Some songs may be hit or miss if you’re not into bubblegum pop.
Title: コケガネのうた
Date of birth: 03/06/2013
Date we met: Sometime in 2019
My experience of our time together: This was my first album that I got from Japan. It calmed me down and I felt like it really understood me as an individual. I was a freshman in high school when it came in the mail, and I loved listening to songs from both here and the PPG album during art studies in class. I really wanted a PowaPowa-P album for a very long time, as I took the time to listen to his entire discography that was made discoverable thanks to the translation efforts of other people, and this was also my very first VOCALOID album as well. Thank you PowaPowa-P for sharing your talent with the world.
Rating: 10/10
Recommend to others?: Yes, especially if you like VOCALOID, and somber drum and bass. ☺️
Title: Aaliyah
Date of birth: 09/10/2021 (This is a re-issue of a 2001 release)
Date we met: 06/02/2025
My experience of our time together: This was an extraordinarily pleasant listening experience. Aaliyah, from my perspective, was on the edge of world-re-defining success when this album dropped. I would’ve loved to see how she would transform the musical world as we know it with the power that she held as a solo artist. I am glad that we have leftover proof of the existence of Aaliyah’s life such as her musical releases on CD, cassette tapes and vinyl.
Rating: 10/10, could give it 1,000 if I could.

Title: 1989 (Taylor's Version)
Date of birth: 10/27/2023
Date we met: 06/19/2024
My experience of our time together: It was pleasant, although if I’m being honest, I cannot remember a single track clearly. I purchased this once I discovered that Target still sold CD’s (The Kim Possible CD I received managed to stay in the wrapping for 21 years with a Target sticker on the back of it), and I was fond of Taylor Swift’s music since like, 2011-2012, so I thought I could pick this up. I apparently gave it ⅘ on Discogs, so that translates into a 9/10 rating for me.

Title: The Tortured Poets Department
Date of birth: 04/19/2024
Date we met: 05/25/2024
My experience of our time together: This was the very first CD album I got from Target. I loved it, considering this was a little out of my comfort zone. I was a little intimidated to start playing it but once I did, I didn’t regret it. This was the first time I also had modern music played on my CD players, haha. It also came with a poster that I still have hanging up on my wall. It’s fantastic!
